What Is Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT)?

IEMT is rapid change process that can be used with great effect as content free tool for dealing with trauma and other negative emotions. It can also be used as a generative tool for identity level change.

The main benefit of Eye Movement Therapy is that the results are immediate and tangible and does not require excessive verbal interaction.

This can be of great advantage – i.e. if there is a preference for non-disclosure or the emotion is too distressing. Disclosure is not required and your secrets remain secret.

This technique helps to create change by rapidly reducing unwanted feelings to help you to resolve issues. Moving our eyes in certain ways appears to link to the part of the brain that stores our memories and emotions. This can lead to rapid release and relief.

Eye movement therapy can also show you why you may repeat unwanted behaviours and how to deal with this without the need for digging into the past.

The goal of eye movement therapy is to reduce the long-lasting effects of distressing memories by engaging the brain’s natural adaptive information processing mechanisms, thereby relieving present symptoms.
